“Breathe Again” Antique Framed Oil Painting - 12.5" x 10.5"

A thunderstorm moving across the marsh and clearing just as the sun sets. I painted this from a scene that occurred on Thanksgiving 2024. The holidays are a tough time for many people, for a variety of reasons. When you come from a troubled family history, they're usually something one would wish quickly by, instead of savoring the merriment. This holiday season has been especially tough for me in particular, and I thought it was fitting that I witnessed this scene on Thanksgiving Day en route to my lovely in-laws. While we may not get to choose our blood family, I'm thankful for the loving family and friends who more than fill the gap others may have left. 'Family' doesn't always mean related by blood, and thank God for that.

Oil on hardboard, framed in a 1920s frame. The frame features original, time-won character, adding to the overall charm of this piece. This custom board and scene were created specifically for this frame.
