Support Kayla's art and livelihood as she reclaims her health and well-being

Kayla battles Late Stage Lyme Disease, a disease that's seemingly becoming more common these days. What's not common is those who have been affected for 15+ years while being dismissed by doctors instead of treated. Kayla finally received a diagnosis in late 2024, after dealing with health issues most of her life. Unfortunately, this mean the disease has progressed beyond what most modern medicine is able to treat. Kayla spends most of her time trying to get through daily life, and when she feels okay enough, she's able to make it to her studio to paint. She doesn't qualify for disability, but hasn't been able to hold a "regular job" for years. Painting began as a mental escape, but quickly turned into an income she was able to sustain because she could do it when she felt okay enough. While currently going through various treatments, her body is fighting now more than ever to heal. Many days it even feels like she's going backwards.

Chronic illness is tough because on the outside, we may see someone who appears to have it all together, and isn't in constant pain. What really happens behind closed doors is a different story: internal bleeding, fainting and dizziness, loss of limb use, brain fog/confusion/inability to recall words/feeling as if in a dream-state, arthritis, constant visits to the bathroom/not being able to be away from one for too long, weakness, chronic fatigue/need of regular naps, pre-cancerous colon polyps from a young age, extreme hair loss, food allergies that wax and wane, imbalanced hormones that lead to many other issues such as ovarian cysts, dysfunctional nervous system, anemia, double vision, skin rashes, cold chills/hot flashes and so much more.

Kayla has recently had some serious health scares, and is in the midst of yet another battle. Money should be the last thing one needs to worry about while fighting for their life, but alas, we live in the U.S. where it has to be the most important factor for proper treatment and procedures.

If you feel inclined to make a donation toward the growing doctor bills, your help is so very, greatly appreciated.

***Any donations $1000+ can come with a piece of custom art based on a photo of your choosing. Kayla will be in touch regarding the size, timeline and details. All art sales also go toward doctor bills if you'd rather purchase a piece of ready-to-ship art or a custom commission. Please reach out to hello@kayladevitofineart.com for more information.***
