Named/painted from a poem by Wendell Berry (see images.)
This painting is a warm sunrise of a gilded marsh, where the crossroads of sea and fresh water merge, symbolizing a intersection of sorts for personal growth. The water here is brackish, a natural representation of an uncomfortable, yet beautiful, transition. This painting is a reminder to give yourself grace in the difficult seasons, and to seek beauty that still surrounds you. In some cases, the most beautiful memories are made in the muck.
Where I live, brackish areas are where Dwarf Palmettos not only grow, but flourish. I adore these palms, pictured in my painting, because they thrive in a high-salinity and wet environment, where most palms won't take hold. They are resilient, and remind me to adapt and thrive in that which I cannot control.

23.755" x 17" | Oil on panel in a late 1800s frame. This frame is a dark wood, egg-and-dart style frame, likely from the 1880s. It is perfectly imperfect, mostly because the corners have a bit of gap that comes with age (see images.) The entirety of it is in solid antique condition. The frame features time-worn character that adds to the overall feeling of the pairing. I choose antique frames specifically for their history and perfectly-imperfect character that a new frame just can't replicate.
Ready to hang.
