Kayla DeVito is an oil painter living in the ever-inspiring marsh of Beaufort, SC. While battling depression due to Late-Stage Lyme Disease, Kayla taught herself to paint to cope. She held her first art show in August 2021 and sold out of 40+ paintings in less than a week. Since then, she has continued to evolve and learned to draw upon her emotions to create works that are as layered in meaning as they are in paint. Most of her original works are painted from, or for, a literary piece. Thank you for your interest in these special he(art)works.

Most of Kayla's paintings are oil, and vary in substrate. Her paintings are made with quality canvases and professional-grade paints, and protected in an archival, UV-resistant varnish.

Fine art prints are giclée on Hahnemuhle paper- truly the highest quality paper prints you can buy. These are archival, museum-level reproductions.

Every original artwork is signed with a KD in the corner, Kayla's signature.

Each fine art paper print is numbered out of 50 and comes with a card of authenticity.

About The Artwork

Care Guide

A twilight marsh scene oil painting of dark cobalt blues, browns, blacks and vivid coral. Named from a poem by R.C. Perez to represent the ending of a monumental chapter, and the beginning of a grand new one. I witnessed this scene just after announcing I'd be closing my retail shop to pursue art full time. I had also just sold a large painting earlier that day, and was on the way home from a celebration dinner. This scene felt like it was meant for me, and I immediately recognized the symbolism of the glimpse of a beautiful beginning connecting to a beautiful end of the previous one. Once I painted it, I knew someone else would relate to it just as I had.

Original oil painting on oil paper, nestled in a late-1800s gold gesso frame sourced in France. The frame is in immaculate antique condition. The painting is 7" x 9.25" and the frame measures 11" x 13.25".

This painting will ship out/be ready for pickup mid- to late-June 2024 (I'll be teaching painting in Scotland until then and it is currently still drying.) Free shipping to anywhere within the continental US.

To preserve the beauty and longevity of your artwork, keep away from direct sunlight, humidity, and extreme temperature changes. Paintings and prints should only be displayed and stored in stable environments, to avoid warp of canvas stretcher bars or paper.

Handle all pieces with care using clean, dry hands, and avoid contact with liquids or harsh chemicals. For maintenance, gently dust surfaces with a soft cloth. Proper care will help maintain the color, texture, and integrity of each piece for years to come.
