“Harmony V” Oil Painting in 1800s Victorian Frame - 29.5" x 25.25"

A few years ago, I painted a scene called "Harmony" that represents life when you've known deep grief, and how it has to coexist with the joys of life in order to not be swallowed whole by it. Every now and then, I create another scene to represent that delicate balance, especially when the grief feels overwhelming, like it does during the holidays.

This is Harmony V, painted for those who know what it is to exist constantly trying to find the joy while carrying the intense weight of grief, and a reminder that the beauty of life is found in the Harmony.

I am pleased to be able to offer it in the most exquisite antique frame I've ever found: expertly carved wood and metal, in a larger-than-typical face size. The Victorians craved symbolism and assigned meaning to even simple things like frames. As a former purveyor of antiques, it is my belief this frame was a mourning frame, and represented eternal connection (basket weave), adorned with Forget-Me-Not style flowers.

I didn't paint this scene for this frame, but remembered I had it in storage, set aside for a future special painting. Imagine my surprise when the finished canvas dropped inside perfectly, a very rare occurrence with antique frames (as most require custom boards cut to unusual sizing.)

The frame is 29.5" x 25.25" and the painting is 16" x 20". Please note the frame is extraordinarily rare in size, meaning, carvings and condition, and the price reflects the value of not only the painting, but also the frame.
