Painted/named from a poem I wrote.
This is an extremely special painting I created to represent a person, or being, in one's life who keeps them safe from themselves. Whether this is a soulmate, a friend or God, this poem fits it all. Truly one of my favorite poems I've ever written, and to accompany one of my very favorite paintings I've ever created.
This painting is wildly unique in its charm: I used oil paint to create the ocean and "brass" porthole, and used cold wax mixed with oil paint to create realistic looking wood, reminiscent of looking out an antique sailing ship to a stormy sea and knowing you're safe. My husband and I are sailors, and have a Catalina 36; I wrote this poem about him. Someone reached out and said it could also be used in a religious sense and I thought that was also beautiful. Whatever the poem means to you upon first reading, is how you should interpret it.
This painting took about 80 hours to create over the course of 4 months. It looks 3D from different angles but is in fact, flat. It does take some convincing to others to prove the porthole is in fact, painted, and not a "frame." I love the conversations it has already sparked. Sure to be a pleasant addition to your home.

Pricing
Chosen prices are a direct correlation of time spent creating. Some paintings take 10 hours and some take several months of 100+ hours of work plus dry times between layers. The value, rarity and ornateness of each frame (or lack thereof) is also taken into account.
