Painted/named from a poem I wrote.

These lightning scenes were created, more or less, from the notion of female rage against society: beauty standards, sexist comments, inequality, harassment, the pressures young women face of having/not having families and other injustices we women deal with on a daily basis that aren't talked about enough. I searched for hours and couldn't find a poem that represented what I wanted these images to silently strike in one's mind, so I wrote one.

I don't usually create multiples of one image, as I think it can water-down the sentiment, but it felt pertinent that I create multiples of these; I just couldn't stop painting them. It felt like they were flowing out of my fingertips. While I've attempted, and failed, to portray lightning dozens of times, I feel I got it right with these: white hot strikes. And pink! Making the storms in dusty purples and magenta pink was symbolic, and very intentional. I want my collectors to see this image and feel the connection to other like-minded women. We're all on the same side, after all- the right one.

Oil on custom hardboard, framed in an 1890s frame. The frame features original, time-won character, adding to the overall charm of this piece. This scene was created specifically for this frame.

Frame is 15.75" x 11.25".

All originals and prints come with the poem they’re named/painted from, in case you’d like to frame and hang it next to the art.
