“The Cost” Oil Painting - 4ft x 3ft
“The Cost” Oil Painting - 4ft x 3ft
Painted/named from a poem by Whitney Hanson.
A daytime storm scene moving quickly across a body of salt water, representing grief that pops up seemingly out of nowhere and lingers for a bit before moving on. This painting was created to represent the aftershocks of grief- whether it be weeks, months or years later- and the swiftness of its efficiency. While I often depict deep emotions in my works, I never paint a dark scene without a light source, signifying hope in even the darkest of times. I like to think this one in particular has strong visible rays reaching down from the Heavens- our loved ones reaching out when we miss them the most, as if to say, “Look up. I’m still here.”
Oil on deep canvas. Large at 4ft x 3ft, unframed.
Custom framing available (modern hardwood frame in your choice of finish, 2” thickness all the way around.) If custom framing is chosen, please add an additional month to month and a half timeframe for shipping. You will be emailed in regards to wood coloring choice. (Framed art still ships for free.)
All originals and prints come with the poem they’re named/painted from, in case you’d like to frame and hang it next to the art.

Pricing
Chosen prices are a direct correlation of time spent creating. Some paintings take 10 hours and some take several months of 60+ hours of work plus dry times between layers. The value, rarity and ornateness of each frame (or lack thereof) is also taken into account.
Prints
Fine art prints will be made available for this painting in November. Please sign up for my email newsletter at the bottom of this page to be notified of its release.
