"Whisper to Her" Limited Edition Fine Art Print

Painted/named from a poem by Nikita Gill.

This is a very sentimental work, with great meaning and much symbolism. I read the poem, "For Her" by Nikita Gill and was moved to tears, as it speaks so much to what I've personally encountered in my life. I knew I had to paint the hope that I feel now looking back on my darkest days and troubled childhood.

I wanted a scene with hidden light that stretched out as if it were a helping hand reaching to one's younger self. I chose to use fuchsia paint as an underpainting, and let it show through in many areas. Fuchsia is the color of the "acceptance" stage of grief.

While I usually use gloves and brushes to paint, I knew I wanted to paint the majority of this special scene with my bare hands in the paint, and very little brush work. It was a spiritual experience for me to be able to create this detailed scene with my fingers, feeling like a child again (again, a nod back to the poem.)

I used colors that were reminders of my childhood trauma- purples and blues- but I didn't want this scene to feel sorrowful; I added in bright pinks and teals as well as corals and peaches to lend to the light in the center. Lastly, I knew I wanted sparkling water, just another addition of hope and healing.

This painting is for those who've overcome violence. You are not your past. You are not what happened to you. You did not deserve what you endured. You are still here and you should be so proud you didn't let a troubled life keep you down. My therapist asked me a few weeks ago, "What would you say to Little You if you could reach out right now?" This painting was my answer. May you find as much peace in it as I did while painting it.

-To ensure no part of the painting is cut off, sizes will not be standard framing sizes, and will instead be sized upon the exact ratio of the original.

-The size choice is the print size. Each has an additional 1/2 inch border allowance for the perfect matting.

-Colors and exposure may vary from monitor to monitor. These prints have been tested and edited and reprinted numerous times each to get the exact coloring, from screen to physical item. Please know that each print will align as closely to the original painting as we could physically manage, no matter the difference in monitors.

To save time (and money), you can choose to have your print matted before delivery. Our mat windows are completely custom-sized for each print, and the outer frame dimensions are cut for a standard frame size. This means that you will not need to have your print professionally framed if you don't want to! You can absolutely do it yourself by purchasing any standard sized frame with the dimensions given. These frames are commercially available at most home goods stores, pre-made at frame shops and found readily available in numerous online shops.
