Painted/named from a poem by Nikita Gill.
This is a very sentimental work, with great meaning and much symbolism. I read the poem, "For Her" by Nikita Gill and was moved to tears, as it speaks so much to what I've personally encountered in my life. I knew I had to paint the hope that I feel now looking back on my darkest days and troubled childhood.
I used colors that were reminders of my childhood trauma- purples and blues- but I didn't want this scene to feel sorrowful; I added in bright peaches and deep emeralds to lend to the light in the upper right.
This painting is for those who've overcome hardship and heartache. You are not your past. You are not what happened to you. You did not deserve what you endured. You are still here and you should be so proud you didn't let a troubled life keep you down.
Oil on deep canvas in vintage frame. Large frame at 45.25" x 33.25". I had this frame for about a year and had forgotten about it. I pulled it out of storage as I was moving things around and realized not only did it fit this painting perfectly (a really rare occurrence for this size and for a vintage/antique frame!) but it also complemented it PERFECTLY in the colors. Absolutely meant to be! I'm still a little in shock at the pairing. The frame features dusty purples and browns that play on the dusty purples in the painting. So lovely in person, and such a statement!
All originals and prints come with the poem they’re named/painted from, in case you’d like to frame and hang it next to the art.
